Current Twitch Affiliate thresholds, how to read your progress and why monetisation access is different from cash payout eligibility.

Twitch Affiliate is a qualification for receiving Twitch payouts, not the only route to using monetisation tools. Twitch's May 2026 rollout made subscriptions, Bits and related tools available to eligible streamers globally, while cash payouts still require Affiliate or Partner status. The current requirements
Within the relevant 30-day period, the Path to Affiliate requires:
- 4 hours streamed
- Streams on 4 different days
- An average of at least 3 concurrent viewers on 4 different days
The viewer requirement is not an average across every minute streamed in the month. Use your Creator Dashboard's Path to Affiliate progress rather than calculating eligibility from your peak viewers. Joining the Affiliate Programme (opens in a new tab)
Plan a sustainable schedule
Choose times you can keep and tell viewers when to return. Four short broadcasts on different days are a different requirement from one long broadcast: hours alone do not meet the days requirement.
Give each stream a clear premise. A title that explains the activity makes it easier for a new viewer to decide whether to stay. Ask friends to join if they are interested, but do not buy followers or rely on artificial engagement.
If progress stalls, review a recording for practical problems: inaudible speech, long unexplained pauses, or a title that promises something the stream does not deliver. Change one thing at a time so you can judge whether it helps.
Qualification is not a payout forecast
Follow the invitation and onboarding steps in Twitch's dashboard, including its tax and payment requirements. Payment minimums and methods vary; check Twitch's payout guidance (opens in a new tab) for your account rather than budgeting around an assumed amount.
Affiliate status does not guarantee an audience or enough income to cover your costs. Keep a record of actual receipts and expenses, and treat early income as uncertain. UK tax reporting depends on your overall circumstances and income, not simply the day you become an Affiliate.
