Where to configure this
Open Community, Discord AI assistant. Choose your server at the top, and use the switch to turn it on or off.
Quick start
Set up the Discord bot in Bearsong, then refine personality once the bot is in your server.
- Invite the Discord bot: Open Settings, Connections and bots and follow the available server installation flow. If installation is unavailable, read the displayed reason before proceeding. Complete the authorised flow before managing the registered server.
- Grant Permissions: During the Discord invite flow, grant Read Messages, Send Messages, Embed Links, Read Message History, and Use External Emojis for full functionality.
- Configure Personality: In Bearsong, set tone, response length, and emoji use on the General tab. Add interests and topics to avoid for sharper replies.
- Manage Servers: From the Servers tab, activate or deactivate the Discord bot per server, remove servers, and check connection status across every Discord you run.
Personality controls
Pick a voice that fits your community. These settings shape every response the Discord bot writes.
Tone
Choose Professional, Friendly, Sarcastic, Argumentative, or Helpful. Tone affects word choice, structure, and attitude.
Response length
Pick Brief, Concise, or Chatty. Concise works well for most servers and keeps the Discord bot from dominating chat.
Emoji style
Enable or disable standard emoji. Add a list of server emoji codes so the Discord bot can use your custom set when it fits.
Interests
List topics the Discord bot knows about (gaming, tech, programming, memes). Replies on those subjects get more detailed and enthusiastic.
Recommendations
Best practices
- Start with Friendly tone and Concise responses.
- Test the Discord bot in a private channel before going wide.
- Set topics to avoid before the first conversation.
- Monitor early interactions and adjust as you learn.
Safety
- The Discord bot only reads channels it has access to.
- Deactivate the Discord bot on any server at any time.
- Remove the bot from the server in Discord to remove its server membership. Configuration changes can take time to reach the running bot.
- Use topics-to-avoid as guidance for replies, not a guarantee that generated responses will always comply. Review behaviour before enabling it broadly.
Troubleshooting
The Discord bot is not responding
Check the bot is online in the server member list and has permission to read and send messages in the channel. Confirm the server is activated in Bearsong.
Bot was removed from the server
Check installation availability in Settings, Connections and bots before reconnecting. Confirm the correct server and review its saved configuration afterwards.
Responses feel off
Adjust tone and verbosity on the General tab. Refine interests and topics to avoid for more tailored replies.
