Where to configure this

Chat moderation tools (blocked phrases, chat settings, held messages and the moderation log) are in Moderation. Who can run each command is set on the command in Automations. The Twitch bot must be on in Settings, Connections and bots.

Moderation features

Full control over who can use your tools and what they can say, configured across the relevant the Bearsong app pages.

Bot moderator status

Grant the Twitch bot account, bearsongtv, moderator status on your Twitch channel so it has the permissions and applicable moderator chat rate limits. Type /mod bearsongtv in your own Twitch channel to apply it.

Permission levels

Every command, counter, and giveaway has its own permission level: Everyone, Subscriber, VIP, Moderator, or Broadcaster. Set them from each feature's configuration page.

AI content guidance

Provide a comma separated list of topics AI should avoid. Combined with the Custom Instructions field, this gives you direct control over AI generated message content.

AI rate limiting

Set a global AI response rate limit (max replies per minute) and a per-user cooldown on the AI page to stop AI dominating chat or responding to spam.

Command cooldowns

Each custom command supports a cooldown in seconds to limit how often it can fire.

Enable and disable

Toggle any command, timer, counter, or giveaway off without deleting it. Useful for quickly removing access in response to chat events.

Setting up moderation

Secure your bot with a few key steps.

  1. Mod the Twitch bot Account: Type /mod bearsongtv in your own Twitch channel to grant the Twitch bot account moderator status and use the applicable moderator rate limits.
  2. Set Command Permissions: Review each command on the Commands page and set the minimum permission level required to use it.
  3. Configure AI Limits: On the AI page in Bearsong, set topics to avoid, user cooldowns, and a global rate limit to keep AI responses appropriate.
  4. Disable When Needed: Toggle off any command, timer, or counter instantly from its configuration page if it needs to be temporarily removed from chat.

Open Moderation Settings

Moderator status does not make chat posting unlimited. See Twitch chat rate limits (opens in a new tab).
