Voice roles
Automatically assign roles when members join voice channels. Set a global voice role for any voice activity, or map specific roles to individual channels.

Where to configure this
Open Community, Roles, on the Voice roles tab. Choose your server at the top, and use the switch to turn it on or off.
Voice role features
Manage voice activity with automatic role assignment that responds instantly when members join or leave voice channels.
Global voice role
Set a single role that is assigned to any member currently in any voice channel. This is ideal for highlighting active voice users in the member list.
Channel-specific roles
Map individual voice channels to specific roles. Members receive the mapped role when they join that channel and lose it when they leave.
Auto remove
Toggle whether the global voice role is removed when a member disconnects from voice. Channel-specific roles are always removed on disconnect.
Multiple mappings
Create as many channel-to-role mappings as you need. Each voice channel can have its own assigned role for fine-grained control.
Instant assignment
Roles are assigned and removed in real time as members join and leave voice channels, without requiring members to enter a command; allow time for Discord events and role updates.
Role hierarchy
The Discord bot's bot role must be positioned above any roles it assigns. The settings page includes a reminder to ensure your role hierarchy is configured correctly.
Configuration
Voice role settings are managed from the Voice Roles tab of the Discord bot.
Global voice role settings
Select a role to assign to anyone in any voice channel. Leave empty to skip the global role and only use channel-specific mappings.
Remove on disconnect
Toggle whether the global voice role is removed when a member leaves all voice channels. When off, the role persists until manually removed.
Channel mappings
Add channel-to-role mappings by selecting a voice channel and the role to assign. Each mapping can be deleted individually.
Getting started
Set up voice roles in a few simple steps.
- Enable Voice Roles: Toggle the Voice Roles module on from the Voice Roles tab of the Discord bot.
- Check Role Hierarchy: Ensure the Discord bot's bot role is above the roles it will assign in your Discord server settings.
- Set a Global Role: Optionally choose a global voice role and decide whether it should be removed on disconnect.
- Add Channel Mappings: Map voice channels to specific roles for fine-grained control over who gets what role.
